Rang 3 & 4: A Busy First Term!

Rang 3 agus 4 have been working so hard this term!. Take a look at our art, PE and other activites that we have been getting up to! Everyone has settled in very well and is trying their best to keep safe, whilst enjoying school life. We have began work on anti-Bullying through the ABI Programme. This is something which we will revisit throughout the year, and maintain a focus on acts of kindness and demonstrating caring behaviour.

Mindfulness wall

Each week we take some time to complete mindfulness colouring sheets. These act as a way to clear our minds from the hustle and bustle of school life, and to offer a break from working hard. We are aiming to create a mindfulness corner in the room as a reminder to take time for ourselves!

‘Beatha teanga í a labhairt’ – The life of a language is to speak it.

The class has been trying hard to speak more gaeilge during the day both in class and around the school. We use our Frásaí in our note books and play games sucha s ‘fiche ceist’ (20 questions) to practice our Gaeilge. Our aim is to fill the Gaeilge Jar with marbles – These are earned when Mr. Duggan sees effort at speaking Gaeilge, when this is full the whole class will get a reward, as you can see were making brilliant progress!

Featured Author – Rod Smith

We were very lucky to be sent two books from Irish author Rod Smith. Our chosen topic was history so our books were about Michael Collins and Saint Colmcille. We read these over 3 weeks and then on Tuesday 19th October, we had a Zoom quiz with the man himself. This was very enjoyable for the class and the children had the fantastic opportunity to ask the author questions about himself, reading and writing!
