St. Brigid’s Day & Catholic Schools Week
Over the course of Catholic Schools week we took part in activites such as meditation, reflective exercises and art activities. We created a ‘class chain’ with various phrases and symbols that represent us as a community sharing God’s love. This is hung up in the room for all to see throughout the day.
On St. Brigid’s Day, we revisited the story of St. Brigid, and then tried our hand at making St. Brigid’s Cross’s using pipe cleaners!
ICT
We are thorouhgly enjoying using our new Chromebooks in class. We are learning typing skills, researching, teamwork, and problem solving using a variety of online platforms such as typing.com, Google Earth, and IXL. This week, we completed a ‘global connection’ survey for the Greenschools comittee. It was fascinating to discover just how far some of our favourite foods/sports stars and clothes travel to get to here! The new weather station, and the WOW website have also shown us how different the weather can be at any one time across the globe!
Sports
We are active each day as we push on thoruhg the ‘Fyffes Fit Squad’ competition looking for Irelands fittest school! We are also enjoying Football sessions with Alex and Laura on Wednesday mornings. Hopefully the weather will begin to dry up more as the weeks go on and we can return to the playing field for Lunch breaks and P.E!
