Engineer’s Week in Senior Infants

Senior infants had lots of fun during Engineer’s Week. First they worked on their own to create boats out of playdough which we tested to see if their boats floated or sank. The children were exploring the concept of sink or float in SESE at the time. Later in the week, the children listened to the story of the Ginerbread Man which they have done in Junior Infants. I set them the task of coming up with a sollution on how the Gingerbread Man could have crossed the river safely without the fox. They worked with their table groups in fours. Each table then tested out their products to see if it could be used to cross some water; a bowl of water. There were lots of interesting ideas as some groips made bridges, paper aeroplanes and boats.
